In 1957, Sputnik took the world by surprise and radio astronomers were poised by their sets, listening to those strange beeps coming from Space!

We found out how easy it is to receive signals from the International Space Station and other satellites. By using domestic equipment, astronauts can be heard and colored images received directly from Space!

Today, we take satellite technology for granted – from news instantaneously broadcast around the world to Pay TV, financial transactions and the internet, satellites are part of everyday life. Even so, radio astronomers are still amazed by those weird signals from Space!

Graeme was also joined by Kevin and Daryle who are all Radio club members at MARC. Check out the website: www.marc.org.au/
