On 12th April 2011 it will be 50 years to the day since Yuri Gagarin was launched into space. He was the World's first man in space.

But now Australia might have its first super-science project. It won't collide things or launch things; it'll be an enormous radio telescope.

I went along to the BDAS public presentation on the (first Wednesday of the month) to find my self being very impressed indeed. Actual items from the space shuttle were on display. Rare items at that.

Monday night we were showing a bunch of school kids what some of the sky looked like through telescopes. A fellow club member, Brian, thought he could see a shadow transit on the surface of Saturn.
